Mauricio Pochettino Signed as Chelsea’s New Manager

Mauricio Pochettino has signed a contract to lead Chelsea in the upcoming campaign.

The former Tottenham manager had previously informally agreed to succeed Frank Lampard at Chelsea Bridge, and he today officially sealed the deal by signing on the dotted line.

According to Daily Mail UK, the Argentine manager is believed to have signed a three-year contract after travelling from Spain to England to complete the necessary paperwork for his new position.

After being fired by Paris Saint-Germain at the conclusion of the previous season, the 51-year-old has not been employed as a manager.

Pochettino agreed to take over the team in April, but he wasn’t scheduled to start until the summer because Lampard would continue as manager despite the Blues’ dismal season.

The 51-year-old is rumoured to want to speak with Lampard before he officially assumes the position at the end of the season, but the two managers have not yet had any pre-planning meetings.

After Julian Nagelsmann withdrew from consideration for the position, Pochettino surged to the top of the field. Earlier meetings between him and the Chelsea officials were characterised as “very positive.”

In a season to forget, Chelsea had a terrible season, finishing in the bottom half of the Premier League.
