Edo LP chieftain condemns election violence

Dr Kingsley Oghogho Okundaye, the leader of the Labour Party in Edo State, lamented the violence that marred last Saturday’s governorship and house of assembly elections across the country, particularly in Edo state, but praised the party for its performance in the state.

The party has won one of the state’s house of assembly seats and is leading in two of the three declared inconclusive.

While congratulating the LP candidate for the Oredo West state constituency on his victory, Okundaye praised the “steadfast and doggedness of the Labour Party faithful who stood their ground to exercise their franchise despite harassment and intimidation” by those he has turned against democracy.

Dr. Okundaye urged Labour Party supporters not to be discouraged, especially since there are still some inconclusive elections to be held, and maintained that the time has come for the people to be rescued from the “shackles of oppressive governance,” assuring them that the stolen presidential mandate would be recovered soon, at least with the filing of the petition by presidential candidate Peter Obi at the tribunal.

The Labour Party Chieftain also took the opportunity to wish Edo State’s Muslim faithful the best of luck as they begin their Ramadan fast.

He urged them to use the occasion to pray for Nigeria‘s peaceful coexistence, especially since the country is going through a difficult period politically, economically, and otherwise.
