INEC judges the Adamawa governor's race to be inconclusive.

The governorship election for Adamawa State has been ruled invalid by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Senator Aishatu Dahiru, also known as “Binani,” the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the state, received 390,275 votes, while incumbent Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, received 421,524.

The margin of votes, however, led INEC to declare the election inconclusive.

Recall that the manual result sheet from the Fufore Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State was previously rejected by the returning officer, Prof. Muhammed Mele of the University of Maiduguri.

While the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 21,721 votes and the All Progressives Congress (APC) received 26,329 votes, the INEC’s Result Viewing Portal (IReV) revealed that the APC received 24,777 votes and the PDP received 20, 777.

However, the results announced by the local government returning officer were disregarded by the collation officials, who preferred the IReV results as the true ones. They claim that the results displayed on the IREV portal and those announced by the Fufore LGA returning officer were incompatible.

The final results are now being compiled in preparation for the winner’s announcement. With this outcome, Gov. Umaru Fintiri has won 13 LGAs out of the state’s 21 LGAs, while APC candidate Aisha Binani got eight.

The APC agents grumbled about the outcomes and were instructed to file their complaints through the proper channels.
