The PDP hails Fintiri’s victory as a democratic success

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hailed Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s victory in the election for governor of Adamawa State as a momentous victory for democracy and the will of the people of Adamawa State over tyranny and frantic manipulative forces that sought to seize illegal control of the State.

The party said that the spontaneous celebration of citizens across the State when Governor Fintiri was formally recognised as the legitimate election winner was proof of the desire of the people.
This was said in a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja and signed by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s national publicity secretary.

He added that it is proof that the PDP and its candidate are the people’s choice, saying that the victory dance was worthwhile despite the evil plans of the defeated All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Governor Fintiri’s overwhelming victory is a validation that the Will of the people cannot be subdued regardless of the plot by a tyrannical, domineering and power-grabbing few who, with over-bloated ambition, desperately sought to subvert our democracy, scuttle the electoral process, compromise the judiciary, subjugate the people, and impose an unconstitutional regime in the polity,” he said.

The defeated APC and compromised INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mallam Hudu Yunusa Ari, were resisted by the people of Adamawa State in their attempt to destabilise the state. The PDP salutes their bravery, tenacity, and resolve.

“Our Party also applauds Mohammed Mele, the returning officer for Adamawa State, for his bravery in upholding democracy, fairness, and due procedure while doing his official duties.

“The PDP salutes the roles played by the media, organised civil society, international and domestic election observers, and well-meaning Nigerians in ensuring that the mandate of the people of Adamawa State freely given to the PDP and our Candidate, Governor Fintiri, was not hijacked by APC supplanters.

“The PDP congratulates Governor Fintiri and the people of Adamawa State and urges the Governor to continue in his landmark transformational delivery of democracy dividends to the people in line with the manifesto, programmes, and policies of the PDP.”
