FastNews reports that Mohamed Salah’s side fell on penalties to Senegal in the AFCON final on Sunday, February 6, according to Newspremises.
The final, held at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde, Cameroon, was advertised as a showdown between Liverpool teammates Mané and Mohamed Salah.
After extra time, the final score was 0-0. Senegal won 4-2 in the shoot-out after Sadio Mane, who had missed a penalty in the first half, scored the game-winning penalty. It was Senegal’s first AFCON title.
Salah broke down in tears after the game and had to be consoled by a Liverpool teammate before members of the Egyptian coaching staff arrived to cheer him up.
