Philipponzaghi: 2 Nigerians Arrested in Pune, India With Cocaine
The Crime Branch of the Pune City Police detained two Nigerian citizens for possession of cocaine worth Rs 2.17 lakh.
FastNews reports that on Wednesday, a squad from the Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics unit apprehended two foreigners near the Savitribai Phule Pune University while patrolling in the jurisdiction of Chaturshringi police station. The two were identified by police as Nnadi Odinaka Henry (37) and Okeke Infechukwu John (29), both Nigerian nationals who live in the Pimple Gurav region.
During searches, police discovered 10.89 kilos of cocaine valued at Rs 2,17,800 lakh in their possession. Police also confiscated five mobile phones, two motorbikes, passports, and other stuff from the suspects.
A case was lodged at the Chaturshringi police station under sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Senior Police Inspector Vinayak Gaikwad of Anti-Narcotics Cell said, “The accused were also arrested in the past for overstaying in India even after their visas expired.”
Gaikwad said the accused were produced before the court on Thursday, and the court remanded them to police custody till October 2.
