According to Fastnews Nigeria, the founding fathers of Nollywood’s primary guild, the Association of Movie Producers Nigeria (AMP), have been singled out for particular recognition and gratitude.

This is in honor of their 25th anniversary, which will be celebrated on September 6, 2021. According to the association’s president, Ms. Peace Anyiam Osigwe MFR, the organization has come a long way in the last 25 years, and the contributions of these founding fathers cannot be overstated. “We cannot forget the labor of love and sacrifice of these prominent pioneers of our guild (both dead and alive) that led to the registration of AMP on September 6, 1996,” she writes. Late Amaka Igwe, late Eddie Ugwoma, Olorogun Zeb Ejiro MON, Joe Dudun, and others, for example. The seed planted by these outstanding Nigerians 25 years ago has borne many fruits today, and we owe a debt of gratitude to them and many others who were instrumental in the organization’s early development.

With over 80% of active movie producers in Nigeria now registered under this umbrella, the group has truly evolved, with local and international alliances, partnerships, and recognition. As part of the 25th anniversary celebrations, we will host a night of honor to celebrate a filmmaker, a guy who has given AMP his time, money, and love for the past 15 years and has been a patron of our organization. On the 17th of October, Andy Boyo will be honored as AMP’s longest-serving Patron, and the AMP Creative Cooperative will be launched.

The 25th Anniversary will be celebrated in May of next year, and among other activities, we will ensure that these founding fathers are immortalized in the annals of Nollywood’s history.” The Association of Movie Producers (AMP), Nigeria is the umbrella body for all movie producers in Nigeria’s Nollywood.
