2,884 Lagosians rescued from traffickers-

NO FEWER than 2,884 residents of Lagos State have been rescued from human traffickers in various parts of the world between 2004 and July 2020.

Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking Persons (NAPTIP) Julie Okah-Donli said this on Tuesday at the inauguration of the Lagos State Task Force on Human Trafficking by the state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House, Ikeja.

Chairman of the Lagos task force is the state Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Mr. Moyosore Onigbajo.

The victims, the DG said, are mostly from Ikorodu, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Agege, Alimosho, Eti-Osa, Epe and Badagry council areas comprising of 2,504 females and 380 males.
“These victims were mostly subjected to child labour, domestic servitude and sexual exploitation…in various parts of the world, especially Libya, Mali, Niger and parts of Europe, African countries and the Middle East,” Okah-Donli said.
