OHANAEZE NDIGBO SET TO SACK CHIEF OGBONNA OVER BLACKMAIL

The apex leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide led by Chief John Nwodo is set to sack its Lagos Chapter President, Chief Solomon Ogbonna, for allegedly blackmailing Nwodo and the Women Leader.

Fastnews reports that this followed Chief Ogbonna’s inability to provide evidence on his allegations that he had nude pictures of the respected Nwodo committing adultery with a married woman, Chief Mrs. Evelyn Okere, which turned out to be false.

The blackmail came to light after the Apex leadership summoned the warring factions of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos to Enugu in order to resolve the crisis among the leaders and the revelation was made to the surprise of the members of Ohanaeze.

In a petition dated 12th December, 2019, addressed to the President General of Ohanaeze worldwide, Chief Nwodo, by Ohanaeze Lagos State through the chambers of CornerMark Solicitors titled: Grievance Against Chief Solomon Ogbonna, stating some of his offences.

Some of the allegations included financial impropriety and embezzlement, which runs into millions of Naira, non possession of the requisite academic qualification, ex-convict status having been convicted, sentenced and imprisoned in Austria and escaping from prison in 2004 and general conduct.

The petition further stated: Recall further Sir, that pursuant to our client’s letter of 5th October, 2019, you convened a meeting between our client and Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene at Ohanaeze Headquarters at 7 Park Avenue, Enugu. Solomon was not able to refute any of the allegations listed and four resolutions were made in the meeting which included:
1) That Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene should produce the video and nude pictures which he claimed that Chief Mrs. Evelyn Okere, a respected Women Leader of the organization committed adultery with Chief Nwodo.
2) That Chief Solomon Ogbonna should produce his original Senior Secondary School certificate, which copy he presented to the screening Committee.
3) That Chief Solomon Ogbonna should make publication in three National dailies recanting his assertion that Igbo People originated from Ile-Ife.
4) That Chief Solomon Ogbonna should reconcile with Executive members, other members and leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos.

The letter stated that Chief Solomon Ogbonna failed to comply with the resolutions and the blackmail of the Women Leader, Mrs. Okere, almost led to the destruction of her marriage and image of the respected Nwodo. The only one Ogbonna complied with which was certificate was allegedly forged.

“Sir, the position of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos, is that Chief Solomon Ogbonna has brought ignominy to Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos State chapter and entire Igbo people in General, having not qualified to occupy the position, and there is need for your office to declare the office of President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos vacant.”

It was gathered that the facts before the Apex leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo were enormous including non compliance of Chief Solomon Ogbonna with the directives by Ohanaeze, which penalty is outright removal.
