Obi Cubana Spends Second Day With EFCC, Passport Seized

FastNews reports that the passport of a popular socialite and businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu, nicknamed Obi Cubana, who was arrested on Monday for alleged money laundering and tax fraud, has reportedly been taken by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

It was learned that the seizure of his travel document was done to keep him from leaving the country while he was being investigated.

According to checks, the anti-graft agency questioned the Anambra-born social media influencer for the second time on Tuesday in its Abuja, Jabi headquarters.

According to a source, “Obi Cubana has not been released; he is still having quality sessions with investigators for alleged money laundering and tax fraud involving millions of naira.”

He will be released once he has adequately answered all questions about his involvement in different criminal transactions. His travel document has been provisionally held as part of the investigation pending the outcome of the investigations.”

Wilson Uwujaren, a spokesman for the EFCC, acknowledged that the suspect is still in jail but said he has no information on the seizure of his passport. Meanwhile, the EFCC’s Uyo Zonal Command apprehended 20 alleged online fraudsters in three different places in Calabar, Cross River State, on Tuesday.
