Obong of Eket: PDP, APC Want Osinbajo to Be Buhari’s Successor
Nigeria’s traditional rulers have continued to praise Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
FastNews reports that on Friday, November 12, 2021, the VP’s leadership received encomiums once more at the 85th birthday celebration of the Attah Ekid Afid, the Paramount Ruler of Eket Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State.
The royal father, His Majesty Obong E.C.D Abia, described Prof. Osinbajo as the best Vice President Nigeria has ever had, stating that it is the wish of many Nigerians across the party line that he succeeds President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
“The representative of the Vice President, Senator Baba Femi Ojudu. I’m happy that you are here. I hope you will go back and tell the Vice President how much we love him, how much we cherish him. It is not an exaggeration to say that he’s the best Vice President we’ve ever had in this country. Many Nigerians in both the PDP and APC would want him to succeed his present boss. That is how much Nigerians have faith in him. They trust him”, he said.
This is not the first time a monarch will hail Osinabjo.
During a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa in April 2021, the Yakanaje of Uke Kingdom in Nasarawa State, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji (Dr.) Ahmed Abdullahi Hassan, lauded Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for his ability to bring people of different ethnic groups in the country together.
He stated that in his kingdom in Karu Local Government Area, “we are emulating your efforts, bringing ethnic groups in Nigeria together as one.”
In June this year, the Oniru of Iruland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, on the occasion of the monarch’s first coronation anniversary, said the Vice President’s leadership is an example for other leaders across the country to follow, noting that “you are a leader whose direction we will continue to follow.”
Also in November 2019, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, at the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs’ general assembly, showered praises on Prof. Yemi Osinbajo for his leadership style, which he said is divine.
